Will converting FLAC or WAV keep my cue points and beat grid?
Updated October 9, 2026
Yes, when the relevant source analysis files are available. LastCUE's format-conversion workflow carries that existing analysis data to the converted tracks, including hot cues, memory cues, stored loops, beat grids, and waveforms.
This is a library-aware conversion workflow. Converting an audio file in a generic converter and placing it on the USB does not by itself reconnect rekordbox's saved analysis information to that new file.
How are the saved cues kept?
rekordbox exports store cue and waveform data in analysis files associated with each track. LastCUE creates the converted audio and corresponding library entries, carries the available analysis files across, and updates the references for the converted tracks.
The workflow preserves the source preparation rather than asking you to set every cue again. Waveform data is carried from the existing analysis; conversion is not a new musical analysis that corrects an inaccurate source grid.
What if the original analysis files are missing?
LastCUE cannot invent cues or waveforms that are absent from the source. A track may have playable audio while its analysis files are missing, incomplete, or damaged.
Review warnings and the preview before conversion. If you have an Analysis or Full backup containing the needed files, consider restoring the appropriate saved state first. A Quick backup does not contain the additional analysis files needed to restore those cues.
Are the original songs deleted?
Conversion creates new-format files and corresponding library entries. The current workflow keeps the original audio and existing library memberships while adding the converted entries where required.
A converted track can therefore appear alongside its source version. Identify the converted version in the preview and on the player; do not assume that seeing the old title means the new file was selected.
What changes on the USB?
After explicit confirmation, LastCUE writes the converted audio, associated analysis files, and required library updates to the selected current USB. It first makes an automatic local library backup.
That safety copy is not a Full audio backup. Create a separate Full backup if you also need a complete saved copy of the existing music within its backup scope. Keep the USB connected and close rekordbox while conversion runs.
Will every cue sound exactly the same after conversion?
Saved cue positions and actual playback timing need to be checked together. Lossy encoding, damaged source data, and player behavior can affect what you hear.
Start with a small representative selection. Check the first downbeat, a hot cue, a memory cue or loop, and the beat grid near the start and end on the intended player. Do not discard the original files until you are satisfied with the new versions.
Does this work with OneLibrary too?
LastCUE supports conversion workflows for readable Device Library and OneLibrary exports. The selected player and library determine the relevant conversion path. This does not mean that format conversion repairs a corrupted OneLibrary database.
