How do I restore a rekordbox USB from a LastCUE backup?
Updated October 9, 2026
Select the version you need in LastCUE's backup history and choose Restore to USB. Check the version, backup mode, destination, and overwrite confirmation before starting.
Restoring a backup returns saved data from that version. It does not automatically repair damage already present in the backup or recreate files that were never captured.
What does each mode restore?
| Selected backup | Restore scope |
|---|---|
| Quick | Replaces the target's PIONEER/rekordbox library folder. Existing analysis files and music stay in place. |
| Analysis | Restores library data and the captured referenced analysis files, including available cues, grids, and waveforms. Other analysis files on the target are kept. It does not restore music. |
| Full | Restores the saved PIONEER data and the saved music selected from Contents. Review the target-folder replacement shown in the dialog. |
Quick and Analysis are useful when the music already exists at the paths expected by the saved library. They cannot populate an empty USB with audio.
What are the steps?
- Connect the intended target and close rekordbox.
- Make sure the complete backup library is accessible.
- In backup history, select the required date and version.
- Choose Restore to USB. Quick and Analysis use the currently selected source as the target. Full opens a dialog where you choose the destination.
- Read the destination and replacement scope. Preserve any newer target data you still need before confirming.
- Check the available space and start the restore.
- Keep the target connected until LastCUE reports completion, cancellation, or an error. After completion, check the library and representative tracks on the intended player.
A Full restore can target another suitable USB. Its file scope does not include a disk image, partition layout, or unrelated top-level folders.
Does Full restore every file ever backed up?
It uses one selected version. Full restores that version's saved PIONEER bytes. For music, LastCUE uses that version's readable library references; when both libraries can be read, it uses their combined references.
If the database references cannot be read reliably, Full falls back to that version's captured Contents. Missing referenced files are reported. It does not borrow music from another backup version.
Can I restore OneLibrary?
The current raw Full restore path can restore saved Device Library and OneLibrary files. Quick and Analysis backups whose primary library is OneLibrary remain preview archives and do not use that selective restore path.
Restoring an existing exportLibrary.db from Full is different from repairing a corrupted OneLibrary database. Damage captured in the backup can still be present after restoration.
What if space is low or the task is interrupted?
Restore can require temporary working space in addition to the final files. Follow the space check rather than comparing only the final library size.
If the task stops or reports cleanup pending, keep the target connected and follow LastCUE's recovery instructions. Do not delete temporary restore files while recovery is active. Check the reported result before ejecting and test the target before using it for a set.
