Is repair preview free, and when do I use a Repair Credit?
Updated October 9, 2026
Repair preview is free and does not use a Repair Credit. It lets you inspect the library and, when available, a verified repaired preview before choosing a paid repair. A preview is not a delivered repair file and does not automatically overwrite the USB.
Formal repair requires a Repair Credit. LastCUE reserves the credit for the task and confirms consumption after the accepted local result has been saved and delivered. USB write success is a separate stage.
What is the difference between the two previews?
A quick preview shows data that can be read from the original library. It helps you inspect the source, but it does not mean that a repaired database has been generated.
A repaired preview is produced through the repair and validation workflow. Review its track, playlist, cue, and missing-file information before confirming. If the source changes afterwards, LastCUE may require the preview to be generated or checked again.
A successful repaired preview provides evidence about that source and result. It cannot guarantee that every damaged record or missing asset will be recovered.
What if the library is unsupported or repair fails?
Corrupted-library repair currently targets Device Library export.pdb. Support for OneLibrary in backup or other tools does not make a damaged exportLibrary.db eligible for this repair workflow.
If the format is rejected before substantive processing, the credit is normally released. If a task stops or fails, keep its record and follow the recovery or credit-confirmation action shown in Repair tasks. Credit handling depends on the recorded processing stage and delivery status; the Refund Policy explains the applicable cases.
A partial recovery can still be a delivered result. Review the preview before buying or confirming a repair.
Will preview or repair generation change my USB?
Preview and local result generation do not overwrite the source USB. After reviewing the confirmed result, you can choose to write it back.
On the current repair-write path, LastCUE replaces PIONEER/rekordbox/export.pdb. This step does not copy or replace music files, artwork, or analysis files. Close rekordbox and check the target before confirming the write.
Is a backup made before writing?
Before the repair result is written, LastCUE creates a local automatic Quick backup of the existing library data. This preserves the pre-repair state, which may itself contain damage.
That automatic backup is not a Full music backup. Create a separate Full backup or keep an independent copy when you need to preserve the existing audio as well.
What if the result is ready but writing fails?
Open Repair tasks, choose View result, and use Write to USB again for the same confirmed result. This does not use another Repair Credit. If credit confirmation is still pending, reconnect and continue the existing task first.
See Repair complete but USB write failed for the retry steps.
